WWB’s Weekly Wisdom Wrap: Two New Films Share Wisdom and Celebrate Surprising Friendships

Okay we are approaching summer’s end but there is one wonderful thing we can look forward to, and that’s great filmmaking and storytelling! Yes we have all the film awards coming up, but I am here to tell you there are many great films that get released right about this time and in early Fall. At World Wise Beauty we love a great film that finds a way to celebrate the human spirit, touches our heart, and somehow we feel wiser and enlightened for watching it. My Book Wise Club seeks out the same fulfillment from reading. You are invited to follow and join us! The Fall Book Wise’ pick will be announced next week and it will be in the Fiction Category! This week, WWB’s Wisdom Wrap is covering two films that share wisdom and celebrate friendship between a man and woman. True life affirming friendship. The first film ‘Learning to Drive’ was just released last week and the second film ‘The Intern’ will be released September 25. Being the storytelling  junkie that I am, I can tell you that these films are sure to make it to the awards circuit, because the actors are all well-respected award-winning actors. The actors I refer to are Patricia Clarkson, Ben Kingsley, Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. What I love about all the actors is they repeatedly choose smaller films with wise life affirming messages, even though they are major award-winning ‘movie stars’. BTW, speaking of awards, I personally love the Golden Globes because it is international, and also really appreciate the Screen Actors Guild Awards show  ( SAG) because the winners are selected by ‘peers’. All the award shows are fun but these two are my favs and can’t miss events.

Following are two trailers and a little synopsis for each movie. It seems more and more every day, we watch the news around the world, and see the worst of ‘human behavior’. It can be quite depressing. So any time I can be reminded of what makes ‘the human spirit’ so magnificent I am there! Hope you feel the same. The following films remind us that fulfilling friendships, wise teachers, and even soul mates can be found, if we stay open to them when they show up in our lives. Enjoy the summer’s end, and let me know what you think of these films! Keep seeking wisdom my friends…

                                              ‘LEARNING TO DRIVE’

Quick Synopsis: In theaters  now.  A literary agent (Patricia Clarkson) whose husband left her and a Sikh driving instructor (Ben Kingsley) on the verge of an arranged marriage find that each has something to learn from the other about starting life anew.

 ‘THE INTERN’

Quick Synopsis: To be released September 25. Nearly a decade after she was a fashion-media intern in “The Devil Wears Prada,” Anne Hathaway is running her own fashion e-commerce site, and her new gofer is a kid named Robert De Niro. Yes, the 72-year-old makes an odd fit among the digital whiz kids, but eventually, the wisdom of his years proves valuable, life lessons are learned, and laughter-through-tears ensues. From writer-director Nancy Meyers (“Something’s Gotta Give”).
